Katy Perry has premiered the official music video for her new single ‘Birthday’.
The song is the fourth single released from her platinum-certified album ‘Prism’. Singles ‘Roar’ and ‘Dark Horse’ were a commercial success, it also reached NO.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. While pop ballad ‘Unconditionally’ only peaked 14 on the chart.

Pop superstar Katy Perry has unveiled the cover of her new single ‘Birthday’. The song is the fourth single released from her platinum-selling album ‘Prism’.
Singles ‘Roar’, Unconditionally and ‘Dark Horse’ have sold over 10 million copies domestically (USA). Roar and Dark Horse reached NO.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 while Unconditionally peaked at #14.
Well I can see ‘Birthday’ becoming a hit like its predecessors if promoted well and gets a beautiful video treatment.
My feelings for the cover? It’s just cool, nothing eye-catching. It is the music that matters.

Katy Perry notched up her 9th number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 this week with her new single ‘Dark Horse’. It is her second number one from the Prism album, the first being ‘Roar’. The Juicy J-featured track knocked off Pitbull and Kesha’s ‘Timber’ from the top spot after ruling the chart for three weeks.
Dark Horse also topped the Digital Songs Chart with 294,000 copies sold (2,315,000 total).
Pitbull and Kesha’s ‘Timber’ slips to #2 on the Hot 100 chart after being number 1 for three weeks. The track sold 169000 digital copies placing it #5 on the Digital Songs Chart.
According to Billboard, Dark Hose won the race over ‘Timber’ by a comfortable 19% margin.
NO.3 on the Hot 100 chart is ‘Counting Stars’ by One Republic. Despite topping the Radio Songs Chart for a second week, ‘Counting Stars’ still couldn’t move up on the Hot 100 chart as the song is still at the position (#3) it was last week.
A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera’s ‘Say Something’ is still at number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. 147,000 digital copies was sold last week bringing its total to 2,440,000.
Jason Derulo’s ‘Talk Dirty’ hits No.6 on the Hot 100 chart making it his fourth Top 10. The song was the second most downloaded song last week after ‘Dark Horse’. It sold 194,000 digital copies.
‘Timber’ by Pitbull and Kesha is still the N0.1 ranked song on the Billboard 100. This is the song’s second week at the top of the chart after displacing Eminem and Rihanna’s ‘Monster’.
It also sold 227000 digital copies last week, placing it at number 2 on the digital songs chart.
We can find One Republic’s ‘Counting Stars’ at number two on the Hot 100 chart. The song remains below ‘Timber’ for the second week.
‘Stars’ sold 185000 (down 22%) digital downloads making it fall 3-4 on the digital songs chart.
‘The Monster’ by Eminem and Rihanna holds the third position on Hot 100 for the second week.
The former four-week ruler of Hot 100 continues to reign on top
of the Radio Songs Chart for a sixth week (147 million impressions). It sold 162000 digital copies last week.
Katy Perry’s new single ‘Dark Horse’ rises from the sixth spot to the fourth spot on the chart. The song topped the digital songs chart by selling 243000 copies.
Elsewhere on the chart, former nine-week ruler ‘Royals’ by Lorde falls from 4-7 on the Hot 100. The song sold 106,000 digital copies, bringing its total US sales to 4,704,000.
Lorde’s second US single ‘Team’ is now positioned at number 11 on the Hot 100 chart.
It was the eighth most sold song last week. 125,000 digital copies were sold.
According to Billboard, the song is very likely to hit the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart next week.
